The Man Who Grew a Pumpkin as Big as a Car!

A man named Brandon Dawson from California grew a giant pumpkin that weighed 2,346 pounds — that’s about as heavy as a small car or a big bison!

Brandon is an engineer who loves growing pumpkins. He entered his enormous gourd in the World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-Off in Half Moon Bay, California — and this time, he won first place!

Last year, Brandon almost won but lost by only 6 pounds. This year, he worked super hard and finally took home the top prize.

When he found out his pumpkin was the biggest, Brandon threw his arms in the air and let his two kids sit right on top of it! His children, who are two and four years old, helped him take care of the pumpkin in their garden.

The family watched the pumpkin grow 50 to 70 pounds every day — that’s like adding a new kindergartener’s weight each day!

Brandon says he uses his skills as an engineer to figure out the perfect amount of water and sunshine to help his pumpkins grow big and strong.

The winning pumpkin from last year came from a man in Minnesota named Travis Gienger, whose pumpkin set a world record at 2,749 pounds! But this year, his pumpkin got damaged, so he couldn’t enter.

And guess what? Two brothers in England just grew an even bigger pumpkin — 2,819 pounds! That’s more than a ton of pumpkin!
