Explore the North Pole through a short story, learn key vocabulary, and use creative writing. (Grades 1-5)
(Read Aloud / Independent Reading)
It was a cold, crisp morning when Jack zipped up his warmest jacket and stepped onto the deck of an old ship carrying him towards the North Pole. He held an explorer’s map, who bravely crossed the Arctic many years ago. As the ship moved through the icy ocean, the sky shimmered with soft pinks and pale blues. Ahead of him, giant icebergs floated like frozen mountains, and the cold wind carried the sounds of cracking ice. Jack was ready to begin his journey to the North Pole.
Suddenly, he noticed something in the distance watching him…
Creative Writing Activity:
Now that Jack has begun his journey, it’s your turn to finish the story. Imagine you are exploring the North Pole with Jack. Describe what he sees, how he feels, and the adventure he’s about to have.
You may either write in your notebook, or type in the Creative Writing Application below so it saves into the Parent/Teacher Account.
