Project Description 

This activity not only allows students to be creative but also teaches them about repurposing items and reducing waste and repurpose old bottles into colorful vases.

DIY Glass Bottle Painting | Old Bottle Reuse Idea

Materials Needed

  • Old bottles (cleaned and dried)
  • Acrylic paints in various colors
  • Paint Brushes or sponge
  • Newspaper or a drop cloth
  • Optional: glitter, sequins, or other decorative items
  • Optional: clear sealant spray

Instructions 

  • Prepare Your Workspace: Lay down newspaper or a drop cloth to protect your work surface.
  • Clean the Bottles: Ensure the bottles are clean and dry before starting.
  • Choose Your Colors: Select the acrylic paint colors you want to use for your vases.
  • Paint the Bottles: Use a paintbrush to apply the paint to the bottles, covering them completely. You can use a solid color or create patterns and designs.
  • Add Decorative Touches: If desired, add glitter, sequins, or other decorative items to the wet paint for extra sparkle.
  • Let Dry: Allow the paint to dry completely according to the paint manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Apply Sealant (Optional): To protect the paint and add a glossy finish, apply a clear sealant spray according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Display Your Vases: Once the sealant is dry, your colorful vases are ready to display! Fill them with flowers or use them as decorative pieces in your home.
