I wrote this for you my son Shikamaru, it was the name I chose for you it means as gentle as a deer, when I saw you for the first time I cried at how perfect you were and I regret not making more time with you it felt like one second you were a baby sleeping soundly on your mother's chest, the next second you were five running around learning our clans signature techniques, when I looked again you were twelve graduated and ready for the exams; and before I knew it you passed the exams and were leading missions of your own, so I decided that you'd keep growing but when I looked again you were fifteen a full fledged jounin, so I wanted to teach you to do my job because I wasn't going to stay here forever, so I taught you as best as I could and then you were eighteen and watched as your teacher was murdered in front of you, you fell apart. I couldn't let you do that so my piece of advice for you, was to let go, let go of all that pain all that anger and hate. Watching you get back on your feet made me proud, then came war; I knew I wouldn't survive so this is what I can tell you: live your life be happy, stay strong, don't forget your mother she cares very much for you, get married to the woman you love, and have kids. Trust me you wont regret it. Take care of yourself and your friends, protect our village, your home, never forget what I taught you; hold on to your will of fire don't let it burn out, and remember I love you.
From your old man,
Shikaku Nara
Huh Shikamaru thought to himself you were the best parent I could've wanted I grew up in your shadow, aspiring to become like you, all I regret is not telling you sooner but your gone now. Come he said to his son, taking him to his father's grave; Shikadai say hello to your grandfather said Shikamaru.
And with that he fulfilled everything his father asked of him before he died.
Authors Note : I made a story about some of my favorite characters, Shikaku died before he saw his son fully grow; and that would break his heart but he knew that sacrificing himself would save his son so he took that chance, he died a hero and a legend, and his son lived up to his father's legacy. Their only regret was they never got to say I Love You. |
