In the novel Wuthering Heights the main protagonist in the recent pages that I have read is Catherine. Catherine Linton is Mr. Linton’s daughter. Throughout her part of the story she is in love with her cousin Linton Heathcliff. She eventually goes to visits Linton at Wuthering Heights and unfortunately gets abducted. Catherine and her housekeeper are held hostage at Wuthering Heights until Catherine gets married to Linton Heathcliff. When she gets married to him her father dies and she has to live at Wuthering Heights. Eventually, Linton dies and Mr. Heathcliff also passes away. After this both of the properties return to the rightful owner. Catherine married Haerton and I think their relationship is a lot more healthy. You see, her relationship with Linton was quite toxic. The difference with Haerton and Catherine is that they actually love each other. The thing that I love about Catherine and Haerton’s relationship is that Haerton has always wanted her respect. Ever since they were little he has wanted her to approve of him. That is the main reason why he taught himself how to read. Catherine of course being a tiny little girl was making fun of him. Though, he still adored her. Whenever Catherine got into a fight with Mr. Heathcliff Haerton was on her side. He always took up for her no matter what. Even though he was having really horrible consequences he defended her cause he cared for her. Linton on the other hand had no respect for Catherine and would not stick up for her. Catherine would be beaten and Linton would not care cause he was just glad that it was not him. This is a great representation of the difference between the relationship Catherine had with Linton compared to Haerton. Catherine also cared deeply for Haerton in a much more healthy way. I think she was able to realize that he wanted her love and respect and that fueled her to be a better person. She was accountable for her actions and was able to apologize to him. She had teased him and hurt him in more ways than she could ever know. The difference that I noticed here is that she was much more mature about her apology and her connection with Haerton. The love she shared with Linton was very much a childish play time. They were both immature about the way they saw each time her. I know that the way Catherine sees Linton is much more mature. Haerton and Catherine were able to become friends before falling in love. In my opinion this is a much healthier way to have strong-lasting relationships. This way you get to know the person for who they really are and am able to love everything about them. When Catherine and Linton fell in love they were both rushing into things without even knowing one another. This is not a healthy start to a relationship. You need to know and trust everything about the individual you want to marry. With Haerton’s and Catherine’s relationship they knew each other really well before getting married. Which is making their relationship a lot more healthy. As you can see Haerton and Catherine’s relationship is a lot more healthy. They both mutually love and respect each to her, and are able to improve themselves. The fact also that they were friends before getting g married allowed them to build a healthier foundation for a long lasting relationship. There are many things differences between Catherine’s relationship with Linton and Haerton. Haerton is much better for her and I know this for a fact.
